Something been missing from Porsche’s mid-engine sports cars fro more than 50 years…but starting this year, the Boxster and Cayman will be available with a GTS trim.

Porsche released the first look at the GTS trim level of its Boxster and Cayman sports cars, bumping up power and standard equipment in one fell swoop. Unique front and rear fascias, blacked-out headlights, and 20-inch Carrera S wheels are among the most visual features outside to distinguish the GTS models from their S models.

For power, a 15 horsepower bump to the 3.4-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine pushes the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS up to 330hp and 340hp, respectively, while both models also see a 7 lb.-ft.gain in torque.

The six-speed manual transmission is standard, while an optional seven-speed PDK option with Speed Plus button can get the Boxster GTS from zero to 60mph in 4.4 seconds and the Cayman GTS to the same speed in just 4.3 seconds.

Sticking to the standard manual transmission won’t leave you hanging, however. The Boxster GTS maxes out at 174 mph on the manual, while the Cayman GTS can get up to 177 mph.

Inside, lest you forget, GTS branding can be found both on the face of the tachometer as well as embroidered into both headrests.

The Boxster GTS is set to start at $73,500 while the Cayman GTS will have a starting price of $75,200. Both models are expected to be available this summer of 2014.
